I know that you have many choices when deciding where to stay on your next vacation. Here is what we offer at the Golden Lion.

Value

The Golden Lion offers clean, comfortable accommodations at an affordable price. We include a full breakfast in the price of our regular rooms. Few inns offer rooms in our price range--at this writing none are lower to my knowledge--and none of them include breakfast. The ones that do serve breakfast are all in a higher price range.

If you book one of our efficiencies, you may add breakfast at a modest additional charge, but can also take advantage of the kitchens in these units to eat many of your meals onsite. It's a good way to save money, especially for longer stays.

As of winter 2006/2007, we have new mattresses in all of our rooms. For summer guests, we also have air-conditioning for those rare days when the weather in Vermont turns hot.

Location

From our inn, you can be at the foot of Sugarbush resort in five minutes, or to Mad River Glen in ten. We pride ourselves on being the lodging of choice for guests studying at Yestermorrow design school, GMVS, and the artisanal cheese classes taught at the Schoolhouse Market. Nowhere else in the valley can you stay so inexpensively and have hearty complimentary breakfast before your classes.

And of course, we're well-positioned to take advantage of all of the wonderful things there are to do in the Valley during the summer and fall. No matter what time of year you visit, you will always find something to do when you visit the Mad River Valley. Take a look at the attractions available in the Valley if you haven't already done so.

Our property itself is a lovely wooded stretch bounded by two rivers. During the warmer months, you can picnic down by the river, play outdoor games, or just sit on the deck listening to the soothing sound of running water and watching the various birds fly back and forth from the woods to the feeders.
